What is the LDYE?

Established in 2000 under the musical direction of Julie Signitzer, the Little Delaware Youth Ensemble provides orchestral string opportunities for students, grades 1-12, in Delaware, Otsego, Madison, Chenango and Broome Counties. They rehearse once a week during the school year in Oneonta. The group presents four public concerts per season. ~Click for rehearsal times and locations~

Our Leader
Julie Signitzer runs the day to day business of the ensemble, conducts tryouts, leads weekly practice sessions, and coordinates the Master Class Performance and Workshop Series with area schools. Ms Signitzer holds a masters degree in violin performance and did Post-graduate studies at the Mozarteum Conservatory in Salzburg, Austria. ~Read more about Julie Signitzer~

Our Master Classes
In addition to performances, the ensemble hosts a two-day string workshop with a guest artist from outside our region. Matt Glaser, chairman of the String Department at the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, led a workshop on improvisation and harmony at the 2004 Master Class. In March 2007 Rock Violinist Mark Wood completed his 2 day Oneonta residency performing a concert with the members of LDYE in the Hunt Union Ballroom at Suco to a full house.
